Guide to the selection of stunt scooters

To choose a suitable model of stunt scooter, it is necessary to consider the place, riding style and experience of the rider. If you do not have the opportunity to contact a professional consultant, then we advise you to read the selection guide from our experts. The article describes in detail the technical characteristics, as well as the differences between professional scooters and models for beginners and children.

TYPES Stunt scooter

Depending on the place and style of riding, extreme scooters are divided into three groups:

Street scooters - designed for street skiing. They are more manageable and maneuverable due to the use of small wheels with a diameter of 98 mm and 100 mm. As a rule, such models are lighter and have soft wheels. Straight scooters are subject to high loads due to hard jumps on asphalt and concrete, so they have a very strong structure.

Park scooters - designed for riding on a ramp or in specially equipped skate parks, where a perfectly flat finish. Riding in the park requires a higher speed of acceleration and stability, for this purpose, wheels with a diameter of 110 mm or 125 mm are installed on park models. For this style of riding riders choose heavier models.

Dirt scooters are upgraded stunt scooters, which are equipped with large inflatable wheels with a tread. Off-road scooters have a good cross. They are great for riding on a rough road, bulk routes or on rough and hilly terrain in the country or in the woods.

MATERIAL FRAME

The most common frame material - aluminum alloy, it is quite light and durable. Some models of stunt sports scooters are made of steel, such models are stronger and heavier.

WHEEL SIZE

The diameter of the wheels is chosen for a particular riding style, because the size of the wheels directly affects the speed and maneuverability of the scooter. Large wheels 120-125 mm are much faster, and are suitable for riding in skate parks, where explosive speed is needed, while small wheels 100 mm and 110 mm are more maneuverable, they are installed on street scooters. On the dirt scooters install large inflatable wheels 200 mm with a tread. Professional riders should remember, the larger the diameter, the heavier the wheel. If a novice rider plans to not only learn tricks, but also just ride around the city, then you should choose a scooter with large wheels 125 mm.

BEARING CLASS

On sports stunt scooters most often install bearings ABEC-7 or ABEC-9. The key difference between these bearings is manufacturing accuracy. The higher the ABEC value, the faster the scooter will roll and the longer it will maintain speed.

WHEEL HARDNESS

Polyurethane on wheels has a different degree of rigidity: 82A, 84A or 88A. It affects the speed of riding, the harder the wheel, the greater the speed. Therefore, for riding in the park, where the ideal coverage and need a higher speed, use wheels of high rigidity 88A. At street scooters for tricks on asphalt, the wheels are much softer than 82A and 84A.

WHEEL MATERIAL

In the production of steering wheels for stunt scooters, two materials are mainly used: aluminum or chrome-molybdenum alloy. The main advantage of a steel wheel is durability, however such handlebars are heavier (~ 1200 g). Aluminum handlebars are much lighter than steel wheels (~ 800 g), but at the same time less durable.
